A landmark performing arts venue and essential “off-Broadway-style hub for new professional works” since 2015, is at immediate risk of being lost to redevelopment. Due to an urgent mortgagee sale, offers are currently under review as of October 10, 2025.
We have an industry-led plan to acquire and revitalise this vital cultural space, but we need your immediate pledge to secure it.

The Alex Theatre, located in the George Apartments Complex, provides three main performance spaces, including a 501-seat and a 291-seat theatre, plus a 15m×11m studio with a bar venue. It is essential for supporting musical and play development, advancing new technologies, and live music.
We must act faster than the existing sale process to prevent the site’s potential redevelopment.
